Being in the field of Sport Science for over 15 years, Carla has provided support to one of the UK’s top middle-distance squads, Matt Paterson and Steve Ovett’s-formed Brighton Phoenix AC, for many years. During this time, she frequently analysed the race performances of their elite group. Along with feedback from coaches and some fine-tuning, the race analysis has enabled the use of data to help athletes, including many GB junior and senior athletes competing across the international circuit and at major global championships.
Carla gained high performance experience while studying at the University of Brighton, involving support to GB Bobsleigh and elite Paratriathlon; and at the Lawn Tennis Association High Performance Centre for several years. She holds a Masters in Applied Exercise Physiology, and is a BASES Accredited Sport and Exercise Scientist and ISPAS Performance Analyst. She has published research focusing on distance running, which featured in US Men’s Health and Runner’s World.
Recent project support includes assistance, analysis and database development to British Athletics. Continuing her passion for applied support, athletes competing in triathlon, cycling and swimming also now benefit from physiological monitoring, advice and practical strategies.
